I just returned from a free 10 day trip to Israel, paid for by Birthright. There are honestly no strings attached; airfare and hotels are paid for. You are responsible for one meal a day (usually lunch), and getting to one of the hub cities (NYC is one!). That's it. The rest of the trip, including entrance to museums, clubs, and other sites (and sometimes even drinks!) is completely paid for by Birthright. You must be between 18 and 26 (by this summer), Jewish (doesn't matter if you're really Jewish or barely Jewish at all), and have never been to Israel on an organized trip.
Besides the fact that I want to spread the good will, I get to return to Israel on a birthright trip as an "ambassador" if I sign up 15 people to go this summer. So please, please email me if you are interested! I'd be happy to talk more about my trip and send you all the relevant information.
