the majority of payroll taxes??
I do not understand the connection. The way I understand it, my boss pays those payroll taxes on my behalf. And IF there was no SSI or medicare, wouldn't my boss have more money to pay directly to me? Are you operating under the assumption that the money Mcdonald's pays the federal government for its employees is rightfully the employees' money, but the money my rich boss pays the govt. on my behalf is rightfully the government's money? I would LOVE it if my salary was enriched by my boss paying ME all of those taxes instead of to the govt. I paid thousands and thousands into FICA and medicare out of my own end of my paycheck. I would be able to live very well if I got my share of that money back plus my boss' share. Maybe I would be able to start my own retirement fund. You know; my money, my retirement fund.
