disastrous first date

i have profiles up on myspace, friendster, etc. one day i received an IM from a guy who'd seen my friendster profile and wanted to get to know me. we seemed to hit it off online - we're both athletic, into music, etc. after we'd talked online a couple of weeks, i gave him my phone # and we talked on the phone. he seemed so normal - very intelligent, remembered all the small things i would mention - so i suggested maybe we should meet up for coffee and see where things went. i flirted with him and jokingly suggested he should come over to my place...but again, as we'd never met in person, nothing was set in stone.
the catch was i'd never seen a photo of him. he described himself to me, and said his looks would not be an issue at all. in my mind, i was picturing someone who's basically the poster boy for abercrombie - totally not my type, but i figured i'd give it a chance if he's as cool in person as he seems online/phone.
