Are you for it, like liberal Democrat Charles Rangel, because you want to scare young people into voting for 'antiwar' Democrats? Or are you against it, because you gave up on that political tactic and are seriously afraid of getting drafted?
By the way, another question for you: Polls show that military servicemembers are overwhelmingly conservative -- 75-80% of them voted to reelect President Bush. Do you think this is good in a democratic society? Is it good that the military is overwhelmingly populated by folks on one side of the ideological/political spectrum? Should a pluralistic society have a broader range of viewpoints in leadership positions in such a crucial institution?
Wouldn't it have been good if a few of the Army Reserve MP officers happened to be civil liberties-loving Democrats who would have been quick to blow the whistle on infractions? Shouldn't liberals pay their fair share, and contribute in the military too?
